Revolutionizing
Livestock & Animal Care
Switchgrass is a hardy perennial grass, native to North America, and one of the key species of the tallgrass prairie ecosystem. It grows up to 8’ tall and is considered a viable candidate for biomass production as it has remarkable ability to grow on marginal land, and doesn’t require fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides to thrive. Switchgrass is grown and harvested similarly to hay crops. It is cut back in the fall, allowing it to lay in windrows throughout the winter - stripping it of its nutrients and seeds, then baled in early spring to process. It is baled at approximately 8-10% moisture, allowing it to become ideally dry for bedding.

making the switch to…
-

Naturally Antimicrobial
Healthier bedding, healthier animals.
Switchgrass is a natural bedding solution that offers antimicrobial benefits. By reducing bacteria and fungi growth, it lowers infection risks such a thrush, and supports the comfort, cleanliness, and overall well-being for horses, livestock and pets.
-

Hypoallergenic
Dust free comfort for everyone.
Properly processed Switchgrass produces minimal to no dust, making it an ideal natural bedding option. Being virtually dust-free, it helps reduce irritation and supports animals (and humans) with allergies or respiratory sensitivities.
-

Environmentally Sustainable
Organic, local, sustainable.
What could be more renewable than a native perennial grass? It can be grown on marginal lands, is native to North America, and does not require pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizer to thrive. It is grown, harvested, and processed, all in Ontario.
-

Highly Absorbent
Impressive moisture retention.
Absorbing up to 2.5 times its weight in moisture, it performs exceptionally well to keep stalls and pens dry, and reduces odor. This added comfort and cleanliness supports the overall health and well-being of your livestock and other animals.
